Ewan Windebank
Producer
Ewan Windebank is a British-Hongkonger producer based in London, known for crafting and producing emotionally resonant, visually compelling stories across both narrative and branded formats. With a background rooted in two cultures and a foot in both independent film and corporate production, Ewan is uniquely positioned to bridge cinematic storytelling with real-world impact.
My Story
I founded Eight Five Two Filmmaking, a UK-based production fixer company dedicated to narrative-driven content — from short films to scripted series and experimental shorts. We champion bold, socially conscious storytelling and emerging voices, with our projects screening at international festivals in Tokyo, Rome, London, and beyond.

Alongside my work at Eight Five Two, I’m a full-time producer at The Edge Picture Company, where I’ve delivered branded content for clients like Amazon, Deloitte, AstraZeneca, and Network Rail—gaining a clear understanding of what matters to brands and how to communicate it with clarity, creativity, and purpose.

My filmmaking journey began in 2018 with The Recital, a self-taught project exploring tiger parenting that won Best Film at the Across Asia Youth Film Festival. Since then, I’ve written, directed, and produced award-winning work including Tick Tock (2019) on student mental health and Our 4C-Able World (2021), a climate change short that was a finalist at Roma and Tokyo Short Film Festivals.

Since moving to London, I’ve worked on high-end productions for Sky Drama and Netflix, and continued to grow my narrative portfolio with projects like Ignorance & Bliss, Sanctum, and Orgasmic—a Super 8 experimental short screened at Raindance and the London Lift-Off Festival.

My strength lies in versatility. With a deep understanding of both Eastern and Western cultures—and hands-on experience across commercial and narrative production—I blend the clarity and discipline of corporate filmmaking with the emotional depth and innovation of indie storytelling. I’m particularly passionate about youth-driven narratives, socially conscious stories, and formats that challenge the status quo.

Outside of film, I bring the same drive and team spirit to the rugby pitch and open water. I’m a certified rugby union and tag rugby referee, and a dragon boat racer—winning races with Hong Kong’s Lamma Dragons and now competing with Typhoon DBC in the UK.

Driven by story, grounded in production, and always ready for the next creative challenge—I’m a producer who leads with both heart and craft.
